Cabo’s Summertime Fishing is Heating Up!

Filed under: Activities at Capella Pedregal,Yacht Excursions — Veronica @ 12:20 pm

The summer months in Cabo are traditionally known as one of the best times to fish, simply because the water temperature draws a multitude of species. Striped marlin are plentiful and tuna, dorado and wahoo round out the mix. And all the yacht captains are waiting for the first sightings of blue and black marlin to signal the start of each year’s tournament season. Your fishing day is almost sure to bring something to the table and may even include hooking up a billfish for the record books. George and July Butler had one of those special days recently on the Auriga Yacht and, from the smiles on their faces, are bringing home some fish stories to go along with the sashimi!

Dessert at Don Manuel’s

Filed under: Activities at Capella Pedregal — Veronica @ 7:59 pm

A Dessert lover’s heaven!
Ever heard the expression “be sure and save room for dessert”? I’ve got a better idea. Order dessert first and GUARANTEE you’ll have enough room! At least this would be my strategy for Don Manuel’s. While the entrees and appetizers are delicious, the desserts are beyond compare! Reading the name “olive oil cake” I was wondering hmm,… what will this taste like and who ever heard of a cake made with olive oil? What a pleasant surprise. It was the most incredible concoction. So incredible I have to describe it here for you. A moist rectangle of pale green cake sitting on the plate surrounded by a group of welcome friends such as raspberry puree tumbling down the center of the cake, fluffy pillows of coconut pineapple ice cream resting on the sides, chocolate shavings, a square of chocolate brownie and the most incredibly dense chocolate mousse quenelle to round out this decadent experience. Enough for two to share, but how silly is that? More than enough for one to overdose on! I must go back for more. Next time the tres leches cake, so stay tuned!

The Auriga Spa at Capella Pedregal

Filed under: Activities at Capella Pedregal — Veronica @ 11:05 am

It’s all in the details!
There are spas and then there are spaaahhhhhs and I have just been to the best of the best here at Capella Pedregal. Even spa designer Sylvia Sepielli admits she has really outdone herself this time. And it’s all in the details. Your first clue is the Foot Treatment Ritual, which begins the transition from hustle bustle to tranquility. I mean, who doesn’t like a really great foot massage especially when it is thoughtfully performed by a well trained therapist? Onward into the sanctuary where pastel aqua tiles twinkle on the walls, ceilings and shower domes to the most amazing lockers in beautiful armoires, fabrics exotic enough to make a sultan swoon, and teas, tonics and herbal treatments catering to each individual’s special needs created by Dona Josefina, our on-staff healer. The treatment rooms mimic sparkling pearls floating on the water and after your treatment, open the pocket doors and submerge yourself in the surrounding pool. Over the top indulgence!

Jazz Concert at the Cabo Marina

Filed under: Local Activities — Veronica @ 10:06 am

Friday, July 11th was the perfect night to enjoy a free jazz concert on the Marina down by the Capella Yacht Club. The stage was set up in front of Solomon’s Landing, but my guests and I scored the best seat in the house at the Capella Pedregal Yacht Club! We were two stories above the stage and had a perfect view of the performers.

Getting the crowd going at 8:00 pm, Dudley and Kevin of Dos Huevos started out the evening with great songs from Sting, Van Morrison and many of our favorites. Kevin and Dudley were long-time Cabo residents until Dudley decided to go back to his native New Zealand for a while. That didn’t last too long. Now he and his family are back in their Mexican home away from home. Dudley and Kevin were definitely missed on the music scene here, so many of us came out especially to welcome them back! The final act was Daline Jones who has quickly become a permanent fixture making the club circuit here in Los Cabos. Sultry, sexy and perfect for a balmy summer night, Daline and her group rounded out a great evening of music. For those of you who would like to hear more of Daline, she can be found at Amarone’s on the Marina and at the Cerritos Beach Club on Sunday afternoons. There are lots of fun things to do this time of the year so take advantage of the cooler evenings and get out there and mingle!
